August 18th, 2007 by Rob James - Magician

August is usually a fairly quite month in the close up magician’s calendar but the last few days have been pretty hectic. This is good as more work = more money which I needed as my car developed a problem this week and I was faced with an £800 repair bill!! Never mind, all sorted now…
On Thursday night I was working at RAF Cranwell in Lincolnshire for a huge graduation ball. I have done a few functions for the RAF before at Brize Norton but have never been to this one before. About 500 guests with loads of stuff going on. I was asked for a second magician so got my friend the Hull magician Alan Hudson along too. Was a good night. The next night I was working doing something I have not done before - namely, a magic themed night in a pub! People got to eat a four course meal and watch me doing my thing. It was very well attended, I think they were sold out and everyone there was very keen to watch what I was doing. At one point I had about 20-30 people watching which is always good for the group dynamic. This afternoon I was in Oulton Hall in Leeds for a wedding (it wouldn’t be a weekend without at least one wedding booking!)

One more job tomorrow then I am off to Edinburgh for a few days at the festival. Not performing, just hanging out and checking out lots of shows. I will be there with Alan who I mentioned above and also Noel Qualter who is a close up magician from London. Hopefully will be seeing some good stuff so can write some reviews on here.
