Atlantic Multimedia CD ROMs
So this is a Watchdog consumer-awareness kind of post! I am giving a little back to the community! I used to get a lot of sales calls trying to sell me all manner of junk for my business. Local party planning magazines, listings on websites that nobody ever visits etc. After I screened my phone number with the TPS (Telephone Preference Service) they almost immediately stopped. If you are in a similar position I recommend it hugely. You can enter your home number/mobile number and it almost instantly gets rid of most junk phone calls. However -The odd one gets through and a company that have phoned me a few times is Atlantic Multimedia. By ringing me and other businesses that have registered their number they are effectively risking a £5000 fine but that doesn’t seem to worry them. Atlantic Multimedia effectively sell space on a CD ROM - with me they are trying to get me to advertise on a CD that they put on the front of Brides magazine. Hang on a minute - A CD ROM?!?! It’s not 1994 anymore! Why would anyone looking for services look on a CD ROM on a computer which is presumably connected to the internet and therefore has thousands of wedding suppliers available at the touch of a button. Answer? They don’t. That’s why Atlantic Multimedia are constantly trying to get new advertisers because it’s unlikely that anyone will renew their listing.
