Doing the Leicester Shuffle

September 28th, 2007 by Rob James - Magician

Things have gone a bit hectic again and I am in the middle of six bookings in five days. Have done three already and all have been enjoyable. I will be honest, I have primarily enjoyed them as they have all been for one hour duration each so less hard work than other events. In the olden days when I would work for a lot of entertainment agencies, close up magic jobs would always be arrive by 6pm, set up by 6.30, work 7-10pm regardless of whether there were 10 or 1000 people there and then finally receive the payment cheque three months later. Dealing direct with clients means I am able to work out exactly what they want and be there for an amount of time proportionate to the number of people there. Plus I get paid on the night, boom!

Last night I was in Leicestershire for a company night out. The event was held in a restaurant in a village called Battram which Multimap.com, my GPS unit and my AA road map all claimed absolutely no knowledge of at all. So, for the first time ever I got to the general vicinity a couple of hours before I was meant to start and just drove around a bit hoping to find it. A method that fortunately proved successful. The company was Admiral Cleaning Supplies and they were all very pleasant and receptive to the magic! In fact I have already received an email from the organiser. I will copy and paste it below.

Hi Rob

Just a quick note of thanks on behalf of everyone at Admiral for your fantastic performance at our event last night. Everyone was gobsmacked!!!

We will definitely be seeing you again!!!

Best wishes

Andy
